EMLYN ELLIS ADDISON is an American composer, music producer, and instrument designer. His music has appeared on TV and streaming channels worldwide including HBO, BBC, CNN, PBS, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video.

Emlyn’s work spans soundtracks for documentaries, indie film shorts, stage productions, music videos, and television ads.

Under his clocolan moniker, Emlyn has released 10 commercial albums. His passion for movie soundtracks and spoken-word composition culminated in writing and scoring Empathy Alpha, a five-part sci-fi audio drama.

Emlyn's music reflects a deep engagement with experimental sound practices. He prizes texture over genre conventions, drawing equally from electronic and orchestral palettes. His interest in unconventional sound-making and instrument building has produced several bespoke sample libraries, among them hybrid percussion and bass instruments, an electric “Roto-Viol”, and an 8-foot monochord. He draws from alternative tunings, noise, field recordings, recorded media, numerical frameworks, and novel software methodologies including AI.

Born in Somerset West, South Africa, Emlyn found his love of music at sixteen. In 1990 he emigrated to the United States and immersed himself in music theory and composition. At the Arizona State University School of Music he pursued his interests in electronic music and scoring for theatre. Emlyn was accepted into the inaugural Composition: New Media postgraduate program at the California Institute of the Arts where he explored new music applications of sound manipulation using emerging computer technologies.

Emlyn lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
